Farm Corte Bacaro - Winery in Portogruaro Venice

THE FAMILY

Our company’s story began with its enterprising owner and founder Sergio Bellia. Exactly like his grandfather and father, he has been successful in transmitting a love of the land and its fruits to his children Mirko and Jessica, with the help of his wife Mara.

In just a few years the family has made important investments and done intensive, environmentally friendly work in the vineyards.

Constant efforts to implement innovation, increasing synergy between production and marketing and, above all, a true passion for wine making, have made Corte Bacaro one of the star wineries on the Italian wine scene.

THE WINERY

Scrupulous husbandry in the vineyards precedes careful, modern wine-making methods. It is in fact cutting edge techniques and equipment that ensure the best conditions for producing our wine.

The winery is designed to welcome visitors as well as those who work there and is built to the most modern criteria of environmental sustainability. It is energy saving class A+ due to the use of photovoltaic and solar panels, in addition to a drainage system that retrieves rain water which is then used for irrigation. The merging of tradition and innovation provides a small carbon footprint, and no barrier is perceived between the place where the grapes grow and that where the wine is made.

Our vineyards: the soil at Portogruaro is rich in limestone and calcareous clay. The vineyards are located in the renowned Lison DOCG area, just a few kilometres from the Venetian coast.

The climate is mild with strong daytime temperature fluctuations and continuously alternating winds, dry and cool from the north, damp and warm from the south.

The results achieved by Corte Bacaro are based on reduced yield per hectare, refinement of existing vineyards and the setting up of new ones with a high number of plants per hectare.
